As most tapaculos in Colombia, a hard to see little bird of thick undergrowth and bamboo thickets from where it sings loud and clear.

Can be seen (but more frequently heard) in a plural number of sites in all three Andean ranges of Colombia but especially at Río Blanco and the road to Ventanas´s Pass above Jardín.
