Restricted to the Eastern Andes of Colombia, the Bogota Rail is a furtive and difficult to see bird that inhabits high altitude wetlands between 2200 -3000 meters.

It can be seen in wetlands within the city of Bogotá (La Florida marsh near El Dorado Airport) or in the Bogotá plateau. This image was taken in the Siechia gravel pits (municipality of Guasca), a good place to see aquatic birds.
